On Friday 26th September I am hoping that loads of you will get involved in a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
I am so proud to be involved with Macmillan and their fundraising efforts. What better way could there be to collect money for charity than with cake? The idea here is simple – gather your friends, family, or colleagues (it is a work day after all!) for coffee and cake on Friday 26th September and make sure that everyone donates to Macmillan.
To help you make your coffee morning a huge success, you can register for a FREE coffee morning kit, which comes with all the bits and bobs that you will need – except the cakes, which you have to arrange yourself. This is where I come in…
Your coffee morning kit contains a recipe card for a traditional Victoria Sponge cake and a few ideas for how to ‘pimp’ it up a little, that I have shared with you. My thinking is, if you jazz your cake up a little, you may be able to extort a little more cash from your hungry friends!
To register for your kit, follow this link to www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee

Harry (of Harry & Edna on the Wireless) and my ‘Fancy’ cake
I am sure that I do not need to tell you how important the work of Macmillan Cancer Support is. My family has seen first hand the amazing comfort that the Macmillan nurses can bring – supporting not only the patient but the family too. I know that many of you will be thinking now of a loved one. I am proud to work with Macmillan in memory of my fantastic Grandad Philip.
The great news is that last year’s coffee morning raised £20 million. Over 5 million people took the time out for coffee and cake. Those are the numbers to beat, people! There are no rules other than coffee and cake and money in the pot for Macmillan – get inventive with your morning, maybe with a theme or throw in a few coffee cocktails!
I’ll be chatting to Gaby Roslin on BBC Radio London 94.9 at 3:10pm tomorrow (Wednesday 6th August) so tune in to hear all about my plans for the coffee morning and my thoughts about The Great British Bake Off!
