Weekend Bakes: Bonfire Cupcakes

Good afternoon, you gorgeous lot! What a week. I am not 100% sure where it went.

Regardless of where the week went, we are now faced with the most wonderful of weekends ahead in which we get to oooooh and aaaaah at fireworks and play (most safely) with sparklers. I have always loved Bonfire Night and was inspired last night to create these tasty little morsels for you.

I have seen lots of lovely Bonfire Cupcakes lately but thought how lovely it would be to have a little taste of the bonfire in them too.

And so my own Bonfire Cupcakes were born. By topping a cupcake with Italian Meringue, I gave myself the option to crack out the blowtorch and bring a little fire to proceedings! Of course, you can use a buttercream frosting instead of the meringue but you will not be able to toast it in this way. Please do not try. It will just melt!

You can read the full recipe, including links to the Vegan Dairy-Free Chocolate Cupcakes that I used for the base and the Italian Meringue that I used for the topping by clicking on the picture below.

If you do not yet own a chef’s blowtorch, can I perhaps suggest that this is a fabulous excuse to purchase one? They are not expensive and, my goodness, they are fun!

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason, and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason,
Should ever be forgot.

Have a fabulous Bonfire Night and stay gorgeous!
