Wedding Cake Wednesday: Work in Progress

Happy middle of the week, you gorgeous lot!

After all the excitement of Edinburgh at the weekend, it has taken me a couple of days to get back into my routine. Hence blogging on the train, as I am now!

For this week’s Wedding Cake Wednesday, I wanted to share an insight into my world at the moment. It’s all about preparation and getting ahead of a few crazy weeks, in which I have several large wedding cakes to make.

Thankfully, this type of sugarcraft can be done in advance. I’m making wired sugar roses at the moment for two very different cakes.

These roses will adorn an Art Deco inspired cake, all in white, with edible lace too.

These roses are for something a little darker! I love black roses. These are for a monochrome cake with touches of metallic gold.

I’ve found the perfect metallic gold finish for all of you cake designers – I’ve used Cake Lace Gold Lustre with Dinkydoodle Designs’ Liquid Shiny, mixed together into a paint.

It is important to note that this particular paint will be non-edible but can be used for decorations such as these quite happily.

The list of decorations that I have to make this week and next includes swans, sugar skulls, and many more wired sugar roses in various colours. I’ll share pictures from the conservatory, my sunny workspace of choice, across my social media platforms so make sure that you are following me.

Oh, and if you would like to learn how to make these wired sugar roses, get your ticket to one of my classes at The Cake & Bake Show in London and Manchester this Autumn

I’m heading into that London as I type to meet with another fabulous couple who want to discuss their 2017 wedding and see if I can design them an awesome cake. If you are getting hitched next year, check out my Bespoke Wedding Cake Design Service

Busy busy bee…

Stay gorgeous!
