Good morning, you gorgeous lot. For today’s Wedding Cake Wednesday, I wanted to look at three Weddings with one theme in common… Art Deco.
I simply adore all things Deco and all of those Great Gatsby connotations, silent cinema, flapper dresses, and the bright young things. Thankfully, I have had a few couples who also love this decadent style and wanted to incorporate it into their big day.
Their cakes didn’t turn out the same though…
Fran and Brent’s cake took those classic Deco elements; the fan motif, the monochromatic colour scheme, flashes of gold, and turned them into something edible.
Alex and John opted for blush tones and subtle Deco elements for their Claridge’s Wedding. Art Deco does not have to mean black and white. We also used rose gold for the metallic details, which complemented the blush-toned fresh flowers beautifully.
And, last but by no means least, Hettie and Pete went for an all-white design in classic sugar roses and pearls. The Deco sunburst motif was created using panels of sugar, embellished with sugar lace and pearls.
Do I have a favourite? It’s too hard for me to pick. I love that each couple came to me with a theme in mind, before giving me enough detail to create something totally unique to them.
For Fran and Brent, their wedding stationery, recreated in an hand-piped monogram on their top tier…
For Alex and John, the colour scheme influenced by their historic venue.
And for Hettie and Pete, the old Hollywood glamour that they had running through the design of their wedding day.
