June is marching towards us with increasing pace, meaning only one thing to your friendly neighbourhood Cake Designer… it’s Wedding Season!
I confess to being slightly terrified of my diary over the next few months and catching up on a little R&R ahead of the early baking mornings that approach with the warm summer days. So I thought I would take this opportunity to explain what it is that I actually do for a living.
All of my Wedding Cakes are bespoke, so I begin by meeting with the couple in the planning stages of their big day. We discuss their dreams for the day itself and they leave with a box of cake samples to enjoy at their leisure. I sketch out a cake design for them and we amend this as necessary before booking them into my aforementioned insane diary.
There are often a few details that I can prepare in advance of the Wedding week, like handmade sugar flower sprays, which last for years, but the bulk of the work is done in the days approaching the big day. All of my Wedding Cakes are baked fresh (never frozen) and decorated to order, before delivery and setting up on the Wedding Day itself.
So, I may be a little quieter than usual over the coming weeks but you can keep up with my antics on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
And I’m off to put my feet up while I still can!
