The Cake & Bake Show 2016: Tickets On Sale Now!

I am beyond thrilled to be returning to The Cake & Bake Show this autumn.

If you love baking, this really is the perfect show for you. I will be at both the London show 7th-9th October and Manchester show 13th November demonstrating the key skills that you need to take your cakes to the next level.

All of the timetables are on The Cake & Bake Show website and tickets for all of the classes are available now. The classrooms are fairly small and intimate (I’ll invite you up to chat to me after each session, if you want to!) so I do recommend booking quickly especially for the Saturday and Sunday shows, which do sell out.

But what can you expect for your hard-earned money? I run two different demonstrations – because, darlings, I am easily bored and like to have a couple of different things going on at any one time – so there should be something for everyone.

Ever since I wrote the book, I’ve kept the title because it so perfectly describes what I do! In this session, I will show you how to get sugarpaste icing on a cake. This basic technique is the foundation to all cake design and, once mastered, the sky is the limit.

I will walk you through the process that I use every single time I make a celebration cake, whether for a wedding or a big event. I’ll show you how to get a perfectly smooth finish and even give you an introduction to piping with royal icing and sugarpaste flowers to create a seriously glamorous design.

Whether you want a career in cake or just want to be able to make something showstopping for family and friends, this is the class for you.

Wired Sugar Roses

Deliciously Decorated by Charlotte White (RPS, £16.99)

Deliciously Decorated by Charlotte White (RPS, £16.99)

I stand by this: if you can make a sugar rose, you can have a long and happy career in cake design! The most frequently requested bloom in bridal bouquets and wedding cakes, a flower for all occasions and all seasons. It also happens that the wired sugar rose is the most simple sugar flower to make and the perfect introduction to sugar floristry. These are the kind of flowers that can be kept forever as a stunning memento of a delicious cake.

The rose in the picture above (taken from my book Deliciously Decorated) is in a vase in my dressing room… still… two years since I made it!

The techniques that I will demonstrate in this session will set you up for a lifetime of sugar flower making – breaking down the process to its core and showing you that making these fabulous pieces is a piece of cake.

As always, you will be invited to come and ask me any questions one-to-one after my session and to have a good look at all of the kit used.
