I Would Love to Bake a Cake for… Louis XIV

Today’s post will be a brief one as I am currently on holiday… my first proper getaway in many many years. I have spent the past few days exploring the city and Palace of Versailles with Chris.

How could I not want to bake a cake for King Louis XIV of France and Navarre (1643 – 1715), a Monarch who left such a legacy of beauty behind him?

And how could I not want to bake a cake for a man who would have himself and his family painted like this…

I adore this painting but got the sense that I may have been the only one paying it any attention!

There is so much more that I could say about The Sun King, and so many conversations that we could have (because you know that I am a history nerd) but let’s not have them today. I am going to enjoy every second of what remains of my break, drinking in a final Versailles morning before moving on to the excitement of Paris itself.

Head on over to my Instagram account where you will be able to see a few more pictures of me in various striped outfits and berets!

If you ever get a chance to visit The Palace of Versailles, please grab it with both hands. It is more than you could possibly imagine. It is extra.

Stay gorgeous!
