What a Bank Holiday weekend we had in Syon Park! The crowds braved the blazing sunshine and traditional Monday rainstorms to spend a day indulging in delicious food, drinks a-plenty, and enjoying the many fabulous demonstrations on offer.

Watching on as Candice Brown assembles the largest Black Forrest Gateaux in the world!
As prepare for day one of this weekend’s Foodies Festival Newcastle at Exhibition Park, I wanted to share my favourite pictures from last weekend with you. This is our first time in Newcastle so this is just a little taste of what you folks can expect this weekend.

Sarah Sibley whips up a vegan treat

I pipe the finishing touches onto my Key Lime Pie

This is me, trying to stay cool despite the glorious sunshine, stage lights and hot oven! Dress is by Collectif (Click for details, though sadly this print was from last year)

With GBBO Winner Candice Brown and THAT Black Forrest Gateaux. It really was that big. It’s not that far in front of us. Candice will be baking something similarly enormous in Newcastle on Sunday.

We can’t resist a cheeky backstage selfie in my kitchen!

Gorgeous cupcakes made by Sarah Sibley

With the fabulous Ugne Bubnaityte from GBBO season 6 who converted me to healthier chocolate cakes!

Another finished Key Lime Pie. So much fun to make and even more fun to share with the crowd. Dress by Joanie Clothing (Click for details)

A frankly hilarious snap of John Holland and I with his Spotted Dick Cake.

As you can see, there was an eager crowd of young Foodies all waiting to get their hands on a slice of cake. We are the theatre that feeds you!

Suzy Pelta cracked me up with her rebellious use of a microwave to bake mug cakes – she joked that you’d never see this kind of baking on Masterchef!

Loved giggling with Suzy Pelta and trying to embarrass her girls with our ‘Mum dancing’. I thought we had some cool moves but I’m told that, no, we don’t.

I could watch Tony Rodd bake all day… even when hot weather and chocolate work don’t mix! Tony will be appearing in Newcastle on Saturday and Sunday.

Prosecco is essential when baking with friends! Cheers. This incredible jumpsuit is called ‘the Charlotte’ and it’s from The Seamstress of Bloomsbury (Click for details)

A motley crew if ever I saw one! Couldn’t resist grabbing this shot while so many bakers were in one room. Suzy Pelta, John Holland, and Tony Rodd we have seen already in this post. Mark Tilling, the first winner of GBBO Creme de la Creme joined us as did Becky Cummings of The Pin Up Pantry who will also be in Newcastle this weekend!

The last demo of the last day has become known as the ‘end of the show show’ and is our chance to get rid of all of the day’s bakes! Thankfully, food never goes to waste when we have so many hungry Foodies in the crowd.

The ‘end of the show show’ in Syon Park was hosted by John Holland! How lovely he was too!

This was the cake that won our Foodies Cake Off Competition. It was a white chocolate cake inside and was delicious.

With our lovely Cake Off winner, Becky Chester, who will be sent a KitchenAid Mini as her prize! We give a mixer away at EACH LOCATION so bring your best bake along to any of our shows to be in with a chance of winning.
