Good afternoon, you gorgeous lot! How have we all been coping with this crazy heatwave? I’ll confess to working mainly on my laptop in the living room with the windows flung open and the blinds drawn, or in the kitchen with my forearms pressed against the cold Quartz worktops!I am looking forward to plenty of sunshine this weekend though as we take the Foodies Festival travelling culinary circus to Birmingham. From tomorrow until Sunday, we will be in Cannon Hill Park with the very best baking talent in the Cake & Desserts Theatre.
With Sarah Sibley of Bake with Sarah (appearing Saturday 24th June)
You are in for quite a treat as I bring you brand new local talent, Olivier Briault, Head Pastry Chef from The Edgbaston Hotel, and Enrique Rojas, Cake Designer extraordinaire of Have Some Cake.
Olivier Briault and Enrique Rojas (Olivier appearing Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th June, Enrique appearing every day)
At Foodies, we are passionate about sharing local talent whose delicious food you can continue to enjoy long after our wagon has rolled on to the next town!
But it wouldn’t be Foodies without the stars!
Great British Bake Off Winner, Candice Brown (appearing Sunday 25th June)
Masterchef Finalist, Lorna Robertson (appearing Sunday 25th June)
And if you are very lucky, your humble hostess will whip up a batch or two of her (now infamous) California Raisin Scones! These and much more will be brought to you in the ‘end of the show show’ on Sunday afternoon.
Your eyes do not deceive you… there will be Pinkster Gin too (Sunday 25th June)
There will also be a chance to win a KitchenAid Mini. If you love to bake, bring something delicious to the Cake & Dessert Theatre to be judged as a part of our Cake Off competition. Click on the picture below to get the full details of how this works. One person will win one of these beauties in Birmingham!I’m looking forward to another fun Foodies weekend and look forward to meeting loads of you in Birmingham.
