Fashion on Friday: Lady in Red

I could think of nothing more fabulous to wear for my appearance at This Morning Live than the Lana Dress by Vivien of Holloway. I have written about this style before, when I wore a burgundy Lana Dress to my friends’ Wedding (click here to see those pictures) and found myself hooked on this shape that creates the perfect vintage silhouette with none of the pinching and pulling that I am accustomed too.

The Lana is a dress that you can eat in, can sit in, can move in, and – perhaps more importantly – can work in!

Comfort does not come at the expense of style though. I was smartly dressed enough to meet TV royalty…

OK, that’s not the real Philip Schofield. I hope he is taller than this cut out!

Because the red Lana Dress packs quite a punch visually, I have only accessorised it with a few items – an elastic belt to nip in my waist a little, a pair of Rocket Originals shoes to walk comfortably around the vast NEC in, a pair of Fakelite earrings from Mid Century Missy, and my new peacock feather percher hat from Sweetheart Hats.

I adore the way that the fabric drapes around the neckline and hips. It moves and flows as you walk.

Throughout the day, I received so many compliments on my outfit from visitors to the show. Anyone who ever wears a Vivien of Holloway frock out into ‘the real world’ will recognise this! I did get the seal of approval from one King of daytime TV in the shape of the charming Eamonn Holmes.

Perhaps my only mistake was in thinking that I would be the only one wearing what I like to think of as my signature colour… it seems that red dresses are having a moment at the moment. So many members of the This Morning family chose red for the day that we look like a squad!

That’s one squad I’m happy to be a part of.

I have a feeling that my red Lana Dress will become something of a wardrobe staple for me now. Easily accessorised to be that little bit different with each wear, I can never go wrong with a good red dress.

Stay gorgeous!
