… go with it!
In last week’s Fashion on Friday, I shared pictures of the Rachel Dress from Voodoo Vixen, a mid-calf wiggle dress in dark green tartan with a faux fur collar. I make no secret of the fact that I love this dress and will probably wear it to death.
However, it is not ideal for all occasions; few dresses are. Its capped sleeves are not great for chilly days and the pencil skirt is not necessarily the best shape for dinner! Thankfully, Voodoo Vixen have solved this problem for me with the Lola Dress.Ha! Same frock, different shape! Boom and my wardrobe is complete!
The postman rang with this delightful delivery most conveniently on Wednesday morning as I had a dinner date with Sarah Dunn (you’ll know her as Sarah’s Doo-Wop Dos) that evening. I had been pondering what to wear – I like to dress up but I did not know if the restaurant would be warm or where the evening would take us. Believe it or not, there are so many options here in beautiful Bedford – whether you want a quiet pub drink, a cocktail bar, or even live music and a gig. I wanted a frock that would see me right for any eventuality. The Lola Dress is it. Firstly, it fits beautifully. I am a sucker for boob-ruching (I am sure that this is not the technical term!) as it perfectly complements the assets without fully displaying the merchandise! The 3/4 length sleeves (my favourite length, yes, I have a favourite sleeve length) kept me comfortably warm at all times, the faux fur collar even more so, and the full skirt made me feel every inch the retro siren.
At £58.00 with free delivery, I think that this is a bargain. Consider your cost per wear and I am confident that you will get down to £2 if not £1! I have washed my other version of this dress several times and it has come out perfectly. This is a fab addition to your winter wardrobe, paired with a simple court stiletto and rouge noir nails for extra cold-weather glamour.
So if something is working for you, go with it. A print or a colour or a shape, embrace it.
